SEARCH WHAT?
“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve”. Jeremiah 17:10
Does that scripture gut check anyone else? This principal totally hinders the concept that we can fool people on the outside with our church going, Bible toting, scripture quoting, nice person front that hides what is truly beneath the surface. Our relationship with Jesus Christ goes so far beyond what others see or hear. It supersedes the extremities of knowledge and the number of titles in front of our names. It’s deep, it’s real, it’s legitimate, it’s evident and it’s known by the God is which we serve.
God doesn’t just want us to be people that put on a mask of fakeness that portrays anything other than who we really are. If the Lord was to search your heart and examine your mind today, what would He find? Would you be filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? Would He find selfishness or selflessness? Would He discover hidden truths or skeletons that the public is unaware of? Would He find the same person you are or act as on the inside as portrayed on the outside?
God isn’t looking for more acquaintances. He is looking for a relationship with those who call Him their Lord and Savior. He’s looking for warriors that are willing to go against the grain and stand up for their beliefs. He is looking for servants that are excited about the opportunity to worship Him… now and for eternity. He is looking for those that claim with their mouth that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior and actually believe it in their heart. He’s looking for those that desire to be sanctified (set-apart) for the Kingdom of God.
What would be found in your heart and mind?
P.S. The desire to “be a good person” doesn’t actually qualify unless the appropriate actions are taken. God wants to give us clean hands and a pure heart but your passion for Jesus has to be stronger than your passion for sin.
